Laser Tattoo Removal Frequently Asked Questions

The questions on everyone's lips .. have we missed any? Drop us a message, we will be happy to help.

Will my tattoo fully remove?

Most tattoos can be significantly faded or fully removed, but the final result depends on factors such as the age of the tattoo, the ink colours used, its depth, and how your body responds to treatment. Black ink typically responds the best, while some colours may take longer to fade. During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and give you realistic expectations based on your individual treatment plan

How many sessions to remove my tattoo?

The number of sessions needed varies from person to person and depends on factors such as the size of the tattoo, the ink colours, its age, and how much ink is in the skin. Some tattoos may fade in 1-3sessions, while others require a longer treatment plan for full removal eg a full sleeve could be easily in excess of 12+. During your consultation, we’ll assess your tattoo and provide a personalised estimate based on the expected response to treatment.

Will it leave a scar?

When performed correctly, laser tattoo removal should not cause scarring. The laser is designed to target the tattoo ink while leaving the surrounding skin unharmed. Following the correct aftercare is essential to support healing and reduce the risk of complications. If scarring is already present within the tattoo before treatment begins, this may still remain once the ink has been removed.

How much is laser tattoo removal?

We endeavour to remain competitive in a saturated market. Whilst we are confident we have the best equipment and technology to help you to achieve your clear-skin goals, we do not wish to price the public out of such a service.

You can view the prices for each location on both the booking widget and our Prices page. Please note prices are subject to change at any time.

What's a Pico laser?

Pico refers to the length of time the light flashes for - a Picosecond. Compared to a Nanosecond for most traditional active q-switched lasers.

Pico laser technology delivers ultra-short pulses of energy into the skin, targeting tattoo ink without damaging the surrounding tissue. These rapid pulses shatter the ink into tiny particles, which are then naturally cleared away by the body’s lymphatic system over time. Because pico lasers work in trillionths of a second, they are more effective at breaking down stubborn pigment and can often achieve faster fading with fewer treatments compared to traditional lasers.

How does laser tattoo removal work?

At Cryolase, we use advanced pico laser technology to precisely target unwanted tattoo ink. Ultra-fast pulses break the pigment into microscopic particles, allowing your body to safely eliminate it over time. This high-speed, high-precision approach improves clearance while minimising damage to the surrounding skin — for more effective results and a smoother healing process.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

In short - yes. It has been described as feeling like being splashed with hot oil. Enter - Cryolase. We have invested in the highest quality cryo-cooling systems which cool the skin to temperates around minus 35 degrees, allowing for minimum discomfort throughout your treatment.
